About the AVS & CVV Response Codes

When you authorise a card-not-present payment, the issuer returns an AVS code comparing the billing address and postal code, and a CVV code for the 3- or 4-digit security code. Use full matches to approve, partial matches for review and mismatches as strong risk signals. Many non-US issuers do not support AVS, so treat "unavailable" codes neutrally.

FAQ

Should I decline AVS N?

An N means neither address nor postal code matched. Many merchants decline or review it, especially with high-value orders.
